Chakra (cakra in Sanskrit) means “wheel”.

We have around 72.000 energy channels (nadis) which transverse our body in various directions. When these nadis intersect, their energies intersect creating a rotating whirlpool of energy. These whirlpools of energy are the Chakras.

Although we have more than a 1000 chakras, the 7 chakras that lie close to the spinal column, the forehead and crown area are the ones considered the most important ones from the emotional and spiritual point of view..

chakras

Brahmasahastra – (Crown of Head)

This Chakra is located on the crown of the head. It is compared to a blooming thousand-petalled lotus and it is the centre for more profound connection with ourselves and more insightful relationship with a force of life that is greater than ourselves.

This is the Chakra where whatever we need is available, whatever knowledge we want is available, how much energy we want is available. This is the crown Chakra, it is related to moral, spirituality  and faith. This Chakra can be affected when we see unethical and unmoral things around us, and we become sensitive about it.

How to bring balance to this Chakra?

By having faith in our knowledge, in our energy and our capacities. By being spiritual and staying connected to the higher level of consciousness.

Ajna Chakra (Third Eye)

This Chakra corresponds to the pineal and the pituitary glands located at the centre of the brain directly above the spinal column and it is associated with the emotions of being aware, inquisitive, logical and intellectual. Anja Chakra gets affected when we are rigid with our own opinions and when we get affected by others´ different opinions.

How can we bring balance to this Chakra?

By trying to accept people as they are because they also have their knowledge and by learning to respect other people´s points of view and opinions

Vishuddha Chakra (Throat)

Vishuddha chakra is responsible for the management of the external world and is connected to being confident, accepting ourselves as we are and being expressive. This Chakra gets affected if we are afraid of failures, because we become sensitive about people’s opinions and about people´s appreciation for us.

How to balance this Chakra?

By learning to accept our failures, learning to learn from our failures and learning to accept the criticism of people, and learning from this criticism: criticism can be constructive and not necessarily destructive.

Anahata Chakra (Heart)

Anahat Chakra represents the emotions of love, caring and compassion and the Heart is the nest of these positive emotions. This Chakra is easily affected when we are seeking for love and sweet words from others, and we cannot get them. This Chakra is very sensitive about cruel words and criticism.

By loving ourselves, by caring for ourselves and by accepting people as they are and loving them also.

Manipura Chakra (Solar Plexus)

The position of this Chakra is listed as being behind the navel at the solar plexus region. Manipura Chakra is related with the qualities of leadership and being perfectionist and relates to power, control, and authority. So, it is affected if one is sensitive towards criticism and politics around.

Swadhishthana Chakra (Sacral)

Swadhishthana is located two finger-widths above the Muladhara chakra, i.e. in front of the body just below the belly button. This Chakra is associated with  happiness, comfort, and pleasures. Stress and worries related to duties and work can directly affect this Chakra.

By learning to take out time for ourselves, to relax in between our worktime, to be happy and contented. By having a hobby where we can be joyful and expressive.

Muladhara Chakra (Root)

Muladhara Chakra is situated at the base of the spine and is associated with feeling safe and secure, with patience and contentment.  So, any anxiety situations related with financial insecurity, insecurity with relationships and insecurity with health (survival) is going to cause imbalance to this chakra.

How can we keep this Chakra balanced?

By learning to manage our insecurities, to have faith in a high reality and to bring faith in Nature and in ourselves. By realising and understanding that whatever is going to happen is for our own good, so no anxiety is required in our lives!

When all 7 chakras are balanced, we feel healthy and fulfilled in every area of our lives – self , family, friends, work, etc. We are happy and everybody around us is happy: life is wonderful!

However, if for some reason, an imbalance occurs in one of these Chakras, the others are  affected as well, so everything starts to fail and life seems to be full of problems.
